A Visit from Nannie and Opa

Emmy had a wonderful time with Nannie and Opa when they came to visit us this past week! The most exciting moment of the week was when they first arrived. Emmy and I were sitting in the family room playing with building blocks when we heard their voices outside. When Emmy realized who it was, she leapt to her feet, completely giddy and laughing with joy. I've never seen such a burst of excitement from her.

This picture doesn't quite capture how excited she was, but it shows a glimmer of her happiness.

We aren't sure if Emmy had more fun collecting fallen petals at Cafe Riacce,

or eating spaghetti.

Emmy had so much fun on this ride at Happy Hollow. Immediately when it was over, she begged for more.

You can see how daring Emmy is in this shot of her petting the goat. Placing the tip of her finger on his head was a pretty bold move for her.

The week went by too quickly. We enjoyed lots of good food - Dad left every morning to get fresh Dutch crunch bread at Palo Alto Baking Company, and we ate strawberries from the Milk Pail for breakfast with granola and for dessert with ice cream. We also played at the park, went swimming, went to the beach at Capitola, and shopped at the Stanford Shopping Center and in downtown Palo Alto. Emmy received her first bike for her birthday - a gift that she wasn't overly thrilled with at first, but that is sure to be a favorite when she learns how to ride.
